STOP THE PRESS!!

Wow, thanks to the overwhelming support in our Poll for a new title, DISTORTIONS new running title will be REAR VIEW. Just kidding about the overwhelming part. LOL. Mine was the only vote, Yahoooo! Anyway, if anyone out there has a better name or would like to take a crack at it, comment back and throw it at us. By all means we are not set on the title, not sure if it has the same pop as Distortion did. Looking for one that really gets our attention.

Talk to everyone soon.

Back from Vacation and Ready to Rock!

Alright everybody, I am officially back from Vacation, and we are ready to get this party started. We are doing a tiny ,little detour for about two weeks. There is a short film contest called DARE TO DIRECT that we are going to take part in. It will be a 3-6 minute short ( in our case 6 minutes ) that the winner could earn up to $15,000 in three different categories. Best Picture $5,000 - Scariest Character $5,000 - and finally Best Make-up/Special Effects $5,000.

We will be shooting it here over the next week to be see if we can get a bit more money for our project. If not, hey we tried, but we will be moving forward anyway. If you would like to take a look at the the contest for yourself the website is www.dare2direct.com

Seems like a cool, fun contest to be a part of. Anyway, we will be posting up photos and video for that shoot here to keep the site nice and active for everyone. Check back soon for some of the makeup tests, rehearsals, and sneak peeks at the script!

Talk to everyone soon.

FINAL REHEARSAL WAS GREAT!

The Final rehearsal for REAR VIEW was awesome. We hammered out the final scene and have made it into a perfect climax for the film. There will be a couple of little get togethers to tighten up spots, but the main scenes have been hashed out. Really looking forward to getting it on film. Dave Martorano and I are going to sit down with the footage and see if there is anything that we missed, needs tightening, but wow! Really impressed with how everyone came together and worked hard to realize the ending to it's fullest. Will have a bit of the footage up on the site from the Rehearsal, but just a little, don't want to give away the end of the film at all. So expect to see that soon.

Now we are putting schedules together and figuring out our first shooting weekend. We have several people to consider when scheduling so, this will be a bit tricky, but we want to work with everyone to make the film with everybodys time in mind.

SPOTLIGHT on DAVE MARTORANO

Dave Martorano - Actor/ Assistant Director

DAVE plays DETECTIVE JOHN HARRISON the Lead Actor in REAR VIEW ( Formerly DISTORTION ) He is a very talented, hard working Actor that is breaking in to the business. The few parts he has done show his versatility and the newest role in REAR VIEW is sure to garner him some well deserved attention. He is also a tremendous assest to me, as the Assistant Director on this shoot. He has been really diving into all the roles and helping get everyone on track with how we they should be played. He has been awesome in rehearsals, tossing in ideas that have helped better the film, and is all about making the best product he can.

Favorite Movies: Unforgiven, Jaws, Braveheart, Goodfellas…I could be here for hours.

Favorite Line from a Film: “It’s a hell of a thing killin’ a man, ya take away all he’s got and all he’s ever gonna have.” Clint Eastwood (William Munny) from Unforgiven

Background:

Actor:

Distortion – Lead Male – Det. John Harrison 2008

The Ugly’s – 2007

The Last Job – Lead Character, M. Marso 2005

Hamlet falls for Shira – Lead, Hamlet – 2003

GOAL: Contribute directly to and make films that move the audience members. The last thing I want my audience to think or say when they see my movie is that “It was OK”. I want them to either LOVE it or HATE it, but MOVE them one way or the other, whether by my direct performance or contribution otherwise in the story or direction.

SPOTLIGHT on KELLIE KARL

Kellie Karl - Actress/Hypnotist

KELLIE KARL plays SHARON RICHFIELD the Lead Actress in REAR VIEW ( Formerly DISTORTION ) She is very talented in many different ways, as an Actress, Comedian, and Hypnotist. Here is Kellie's BIO, this is one Lady that fits any role perfectly, take a look...

Favorite Movies: Anything Spielberg anything Meryl Streep, suspense dramas, comedy...it varies depending on my mood!

Favorite Line from a Film: [Describing a "reaction" to an encounter with the bullies] Ralphie as Adult: [narrating] "Randy lay there like a slug! It was his only defense!" THE funniest line in a movie...EVER!!

BACKGROUND: Actress/Singer/Dancer/Comedy Hypnotist

Kellie Karl is more than just any Las Vegas entertainer--actress, singer, comedy hypnotist and certified hypnotherapist--Kellie has raised the bar when it comes to multi-talented, multi-faceted performers.

Kellie is wowing audiences with her unique blend of comedy and hypnotic skills and is currently performing in "The Outrageous Comedy Hypnosis Show" at Las Vegas' legendary Riviera Casino, and in “The Soprano’s Last Supper", playing Tony Soprano’s sexy psychiatrist Dr. Melfri.

Kellie has appeared on several stages in Las Vegas and throughout the US, including the role of featured singer and dancer in the “Sin City Angels Revue” at The Sahara, the role of Sadista in “Shock,” a Stevie Nicks impersonator in the “Hail! Hail! Rock n Roll” show, and as Chickie Parmesan, the lead actress and singer in the interactive dinner show “BaDaBing.” Kellie has also appeared in several musicals, including “The Taffetas,” “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” and “Swing, Jazz and Jump!” She has had the privilege to perform with notable artists, such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Three Dog Night, The Village People, The Coasters, The Rockettes, Chubby Checker, Aerosmith, Aaron Neville and the Neville Brothers.

Kellie’s talent is certainly not limited to the stage. She has appeared in a number of television commercials, music videos, and in popular shows such as MTV’s “My Super Sweet Sixteen,” the History Channel’s “Haunted Histories,” and movies-of-the-week. Her feature film work includes appearances in “Johnny Handsome,” “Indecent Proposal,” and “Body Moves.”

Actress, singer, comedy hypnotist…Kellie Karl…all that talent wrapped up in one exceptional package!

What people are saying about Kellie Karl...

I have been a stage director for many years. I have worked with many performers and feel that I am a good judge of talent. From the first time that I saw Kellie, I knew she had something special. She is warm and charismatic, and totally disarming with her beautiful smile. Kellie has a true rapport with her audience. and a strong and powerful stage presence. Every time that I have seen Kellie perform her stage hypnosis show, it has been a real winner and the audience goes out loving her.

Joanie Spina
Stage Director and Choreographer
(choreographed 10 CBS David Copperfield TV specials)

I've seen Kellie on stage and I'm trying to resist the obvious and say she's "hypnotic". But she is captivating, enticing, fascinating, charming and wonderfully entertaining. I can and HAVE recommended her show to anyone headed for Vegas.

Farrell Hirsch
Executive Producer Playboy Radio Network
network TV writer, Broadway producer

I hired Kellie Karl to do her hypnosis show for MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen. When Kellie started her show, all 250 teenagers rushed the stage screaming and begging to get hypnotized. Need I say more?

Carolyn Arthurs
Owner, All About Events, Los Angeles CA

Having worked all over the world with many well known entertainers, I have seen many shows and enjoy being entertained. I saw Kellie Karl's show in Las Vegas and she is an excellent Hypnotist who has convinced me that hypnosis is real. Her volunteers were hilarious and kept me laughing for the entire show. Definitely a show I would see again.

Richard Spina
Herman's Hermits

Sopranos Last Supper review
Another character of note is (Kellie Karl) the psychiatrist. She was wonderful in her role. She was both specific and comedic, and she found the right balance between reality and the character she plays.

I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt! Thank you for making this the best night of our vacation.

Meeting of Minds Tonight!

Tonight Dave Marturano and Myself will be meeting tonight at our Famous Fazoli's Restaurant, our typical hot spot, to finalize the end of REAR VIEW. we meet once a week to go over changes, additions, and any new thoughts for the script as it nears the end. It has been awesome having him on board and helping me through the Pre-Production. I've already told him, not only is he going to be my BRUCE CAMBPELL, but he will be behind the scenes on all my productions as well. He brings the same fire and energy I do and it is fantastic to have back up like that. Anyway we will be hammering out the ending dialogue and action.

The other thing we will be working on is our new Web Series, that he will be starring in.. The Razor's Edge. Both of us are very excited and i have been pounding out Webisodes left and right. The first will be a double or triple webisode either 10 to 15 minutes long. want to lay the ground work for the characters and plot, then we can sail through webisodes like a bottle rocket. We really believe we have something that is fresh and new and will entertain as well as get your participation. So anyways bye for now..

DISTORTION - Search for a New Title!

Recently while creating our MYSPACE movie page, I came along another production being made right now, with the same title. There are way to many similarities with the title, age of the Director/Writer, and having a MYSPACE site ( No similarities in storyline ) to keep our name. I don't want this other Production and ours getting confused and building traffic and BUZZ for his Production. So for now ours has now taken on the title REAR VIEW.. With the slug line " Images in the Rear View are different than they appear! " It may stick and in fact we will have a poll on the site with several different choices and see what you all say! I think it works and the new MYSPACE SITE has this title as of now http://www.myspace.com/rearviewthemovie so check it out. This site will connect the Web Documentary and have all the Video's, Photo's, and the Diary from the Making, as well as all Trailers, Cast and Crew Bios, etc..

It is bare bones now, but by the end of the day will be almost completed and up to date for now..

Here are a couple of the alternative names..

Peripheral Vision
Blind Spot
Distorted
Blind Sided
Rear View

SPECIAL THANKS!

A person that I have regrettably forgotten to mention in the last posts has been one of our Producers, ROBERT SANCHEZ. His help in the making of the film has been huge. Not only is one of the Films three camera's his, big enough help there, but he has been doing much more behind the scenes. His Daughter will be shooting all of the behind the scenes footage alongside of my daughter as well, so I definitely wanted to mention him on this post. Thanks for everything and we will make you proud with the final product.

Original Trailer for 2002 Short

Here is the Original Trailer made for the 2002 Short Version of the film. This was truly low budget, low quality DV, for it's time.. wasn't so bad.. Now it is definitley out dated. Take a look for fun.
